My Life in Graduate School:

"Accept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue."
--Roger Anderson

Well, today I am definitely the statue. Somedays, like today, I wonder how I am going to ever get through this Ph.D experience. Somedays, like today, I will go home and cry into my pillow.

Thanks!!! In a weird way, it is nice to know others feel the same way. My advisor made me feel like total sh** today.

I'm sorry that you are crying. I've been there--I am there.

One day, my advisor and I got into a HUGE fight. He got so angry (because he's a child) that he turned and walked away from me while I was explaining why I was upset about what he did. When I realized that he was walking away, I snapped and yelled to him, "Get back here! Don't you dare walk away from me when I'm speaking!"

OMG, I don't know what I was thinking--turning into my mother like that.

I cried a lot that day, but I made it through and so will you.

Thanks for all the support! My advisor is a pretty tough person to work for. In fact, his reputation for being tough is well known at our research institute. SFTR, I am so in awe of your courage to stand up to your advisor like that! Wow!!!!
